Wow wow wow where do I start Black Leaders in Healthcare! Words can not describe the gratitude I hold towards them. They took the time to go through my cv and my personal statement with me and updated it in very efficient time. They made the process so smooth and easy for me. What would have taken me weeks to do took us only two short sessions.
When I mean every job I applied for I got invited to an interview! At first I was happy but then I was so nervous and lacked confidence, that I felt I was not prepared for the interviews. So I purchased the 2hour coaching call for interview techniques. Juliana met with me and went through interview questions, we practiced and practiced. She showed so much patience and adapted to my learning style as I have dyslexia. This made me confident as I learnt so much valuable techniques to apply in my interview. Cut a long story short I got my dream job working for CAMHS, I know without the support and guidance of Black Leaders in Healthcare this would not be possible. I will start my new role as a band 5 occupational therapist once I graduate from university next month.
I wanted to share a testimonial on how the space created by Black Leaders led me to a new and exciting Job role that I had been searching for ! I hope this serves as some inspiration and motivation to others! A special thanks to Juliana for this space also!
I had been thinking about changing my role for sometime but I really didn’t know where to begin my search! I told my sister and close family that I was looking for a job in admin but I would want to be fully remote, to enable me to have the work/life balance which I really wanted!
My sister had been part of the Black Leaders In Healthcare community forum and told me about all the job posts related to Diversity and Inclusion that go into the group. I asked her to keep an eye out for me, just in case anything came up!
She did exactly that, and a post went into the group for a remote office admin assistant that looked amazing! Without hesitation my sister sent me the post and I applied almost immediately.
Long story short, I am proud to say I now have the role I truly wanted. A fully remote administrate assistant for an amazing company!
This wouldn’t have been possible without the Black Leaders in Healthcare group! I am grateful for the post that went into the group that day and all the events that led up to me securing this job, with better pay and work life balance than my last role!
I would like to give a special thanks to Juliana for creating this amazing space! I encourage anyone reading this to take the leap of faith regarding that job, don’t doubt yourself! Great opportunities are not as far as they may seem!
I would recommend this service to all students and anyone who is considering a job change. Fantastic service led by Black Women who understood my experiences and challenges.
I was stuck in a job for over 6years with no promotion opportunities and had been struggling to find a new job for over a year. I was beginning to lose confidence and become more frustrated with the job searching process, it can be so stressful!
I was invited for interviews but feedback was always that I did very well but there were other candidates more suited for the role. The feedback was never constructive enough for me to understand what I was doing wrong.
I heard about Black Leaders from a colleague at work and decided to use their CV Clinic service and a 1hour coaching call to discuss interview techniques.
Let’s just say that my expectations were exceeded! Firstly, I was very impressed with the fact that they don’t just update your CV for you, but they also guided me through their process and gave me tips on how to make my own regular updates. The coaching call was with Juliana. I learned a lot about things that I can do to prepare for an interview and questions to ask employers during the process. Even with my Masters Degree there was so much I did not know about interviewing for jobs and these are things no one taught me at school or university.
I applied for three jobs with my new CV and was invited to all interviews. Fortunately the first interview I attended offered me a job!
Thank you so much Black Leaders
Juliana recommended and enrolled me onto a series of EDI workshops and then gave me what I believe the necessary advice to eventually secure my new role within the NHS as an EDI manager. I feel like I was given a wrap around service and the tools needed in being successful in my career.
I now have a new job and secured another position in an anti racist consultancy role within the voluntary sector. The process only took 3 sessions and one month later I have 2 new jobs! I want to give a great deal of thanks and gratitude to Juliana for setting up this company.
